READER COMMENTS:

"Your book has saved me tens of thousands of dollars!"

"I’m a geologist, author, and retired college educator who has recently purchased your Slate Roof Bible and read it avidly. It Is both a terrific read and a tremendous resource. . . ."

"The third edition is really nice. I commend your attention to detail even on small items that I'm sure no one was losing sleep over. Overall the book was well done I enjoy reading it. Even after 40 years of slate roofing I still pick up details and tidbits that are new and interesting."

"I recently finished reading “the bible” cover to cover. Great book from historical context and should be read by everyone having a slate roof placed on their home."

"The Bible keeps getting better and expanding my knowledge about the slate trade. In some ways the book is like an apprenticeship.  I've learned a lot of things about building out of books, but never an entire trade. Granted I am no expert but I was confident after reading your book I could tackle a roof, and it has not leaked in 8 years so i must have done something half right. Thanks for the inspiration, the knowledge, and for writing the manual for me to apprentice by."

REVIEWS:

"Jenkins effectively draws upon his many years of experience and expertise to provide a thoroughly 'user friendly' instruction manual regarding the craft of slate roof installation. Expanded sections include slate siding, eyebrow dormers, turrets, soldering, flashings, international slate, American slate history, slating styles, installation and repair tips, and trade secrets.

Dozens of new color photographs have been added, as well as step-by-step illustrations and line drawings. Exceptionally well written, illustrated, organized and presented, 'The Slate Roof Bible: Everything You Need to Know About the World's Finest Roof' is especially recommended to the attention of architects, roofers, slate roof owners, architectural consultants, architectural history buffs, and anyone involved with the roofing industry.

Professional, community, and academic libraries should consider this new third edition of "The Slate Roof Bible" to be an essential, core addition to their Architecture collections in general, and slate roofing supplemental studies reading lists in particular." Midwest Book Review, October 2016

I just purchased a house with a Vermont Slate roof that needs repair. This is the best fifty bucks I have spent in a long time.

I am a structural engineer and bought this book as an aid in working with slate roofs for forensic engineering jobs. The book is a wealth of information and is hard to put down once you start reading it. Slate Roof Warehouse is a terrific website too!

As a geologist by training, I really appreciate the detail on quarry locations and background on the history of slate mining. I bought a box of eight of the Slate Roof Bible to give as gifts to friends and colleagues. Now they understand my passion for both the science and my own slate roof I installed on my upstate New York 1930 Dutch Colonial in 2011.
